Job Title: Resident Aide

Hours: Evening - Night Shift, Weekends Required, Holidays as Applicable

Salary Range: $18.50 / hr. DOE

Description:

Resident Aides serve the housing tenants and shelter clients by maintaining an active presence during nights and weekends. The duties include de-escalation of disputes or active bad behaviors due to mental health breakdowns, or drug use. Aides are a primary interface for medical emergencies or police activity, resolve lockouts, report suspicious activity, assist tenants with guests, assist tenants with daily activities. The aides make phone calls and referrals to partnering programs for housing, financial, medical, domestic violence, veterans, mental health, and substances abuse from youth to elderly care. The aides assist with community events, perform basic janitorial and maintenance duties which address the basic needs of the community. Resident Aides are the primary night support staff for housing tenants and the primary assist when needed for shelter.

Job Duties:

· Perform duties for grant purposes and audits.

· Manage a sign in log, greet guests and visitors as they enter the building.

· Follow individualized resident stability - care plans.

· Assist tenants with Activities of Daily Living as needed, such as laundry, groceries, removal of refuse from apartment, needs as determined or expressed by tenant or the tenant's Housing Stability Care Plan.

· Answer phones, take and distribute messages.

· Assist residents with day-to-day services that promote housing retention and independence.

· Help the tenants build a strong community by assisting with community events, meetings, and dinners.

· Perform basic janitorial duties and ensure hygiene in communal areas.

· Document site activity through online daily logs.

· Notify supervisor of issues/hazards as they develop.

· Actively conduct hourly rounds of site, including hallways, alley ways, smoking areas etc. for safety issues.

· Perform basic maintenance tasks as directed by the Resident Manager

· Assist with room turns as needed.

· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Housing Operations Manager, Assigned by Maintenance

Experience:

· Knowledge or experience with people experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use disorders.

Knowledge:

· Promote cooperation, be friendly, treat others with respect.

· Ability to work individually and with a team.

· Multi-task, be organized, energetic and follow site policies.

· Basic understanding and ability to work with formerly homeless persons with disabilities, addictions, mental health, and other situations unique to each client.

Required:

· Able to pass criminal background check.

· Work independently and be self-motivated.

· Ability to sit, stand, lift a maximum of 25lbs and climb stairs.

· Communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

· Remain calm in stressful situations and follow safety protocols.

Prefer, Not Required:

· Valid Washington Driver's License/or Photo ID and reliable transportation
