BRIX Marine Fabricator/Welder Supervisor in Port Angeles, Washington

Location: Port Angeles, WA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Summary: The Fab/Weld Supervisor is responsible for the fabrication and welding at Brix while leading the Fab/Weld Team towards company objectives: 1. Reports To: Production Manager Pay range: $33-42/hour Direct Reports: Fab/Weld Team (up to 12 people) Duties: • Take a proactive leadership role in creating safe and healthy working conditions for department personnel. • Review plans, schedule work, and prepare appropriate material/supply requisitions. • Supervise day-to-day construction. Ensure fabrication and welding comply with the safety and quality standards of Brix, regulatory bodies, and each project. • Estimate number of hours to complete specific projects, assess variances from budget, and take actions to remedy problem areas. • Meet budgeted hours and project milestones. • Train, coach and advise Fab/Weld employees to create efficient and cohesive work teams. • Demonstrate and enforce all company policies and foster a culture of continuous improvement. • Conduct annual performance reviews. • Review and assess candidates for employment. • Keep facilities and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. • Other duties as required. Qualifications: • 10+ years aluminum fabrication and/or welding experience • 5+ years leadership/management in fabrication and/or welding • Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of aluminum fabrication and welding, including tools and equipment • Working knowledge of the welding certification process (e.g. CWB) • Ability to read and understand plans and welding symbols • Basic math skills relevant to boatbuilding • HS Diploma or equivalent • Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US Environment: • Work is performed in a metal manufacturing facility. Noise level can vary from moderate to high. The use of PPE (e.g. hand/hearing/eye protection) is required. • Continuous physical effort is required (standing, walking, stooping, climbing stairs, grasping/reaching above head height, lifting/moving items up to 50 pounds). The employee is occasionally required to work from a ladder and/or scaffolding.
