Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Lower Granite Project, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and situated on the Snake River, 32-river miles downstream from Clarkston, Washington. This Project provides hydroelectric generation, navigation, fish passage and recreation. Responsibilities Performs installation and maintenance of digital electronic equipment and associated devices related to data collection systems, centralized control systems, remote control systems, and communications systems. Uses diagnostic and test programs to locate and analyze troubles and make necessary corrections to the digital electronic equipment. Assists and receives support in developing standard practices for installation, upgrade, inspection, testing and preventive maintenance of electronic and electrical systems for new projects now under construction, and for updating existing systems. Repair instrumentation equipment, pumps and other equipment; power distribution and lighting systems, electrical equipment of spillway gates and navigation lock. Services and repairs electric motors, control centers and panel boards. Repairs and maintains main generator bus work, generator power circuit breakers, disconnects and associated equipment; maintains and repairs project elevators and miscellaneous equipment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrical Electronic Craftsworker without more than normal supervision. Repair and maintenance of electronic equipment with inspection performed at the completion of each task. I have the ability to perform work such as making adjustments and/or repairs, calibrating and retesting equipment such as various relays, meters, recorders, controllers, indicators, transmitters and receivers, oscillators and amplifiers, electronic relays and other electronic and communication equipment. (My resume reflects present or past experience performing these tasks.) - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand for long periods on hard surfaces, climb stairs and ladders, work in awkward positions requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and twisting. Requires a high degree of concentrated mental and visual attention, and ability to coordinate a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods. Must be able to distinguish colors. Required to lift parts and equipment weighing frequently up to, and occasionally over, 45 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Required to work inside and outside and is subject to bad weather (heat, cold, rain, snow). Work is often unpleasant due to noise, weather, dirt, grease, dust, etc. Subject to severe injury from working around and in close proximity to energized equipment, and around moving machinery. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns and electrical shock.. Must wear appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing, and successfully complete and maintain all occupational health requirements. Education Additional Information Incentives may be authorized. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
