General Summary:Under moderate supervision a Refrigeration Technician 2 is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining the ammonia refrigeration, and in some cases boiler, and air systems. This role requires performing preventative maintenance to said systems, and the willingness to respond to any system interruptions and have the flexibility to be on call to conduct emergency repairs. The technician must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, and moving around the systems. Must be able to work and communicate with a diverse variety of individuals, including fellow technicians, supervisors, clients and assist with upkeep of critical documents.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, and in some cases boiler, and air systems; as well as Process Safety Management (PSM), is required.

  2. Supports both the PSM and Refrigeration team to maintain and retain all PSM, Refrigeration and Safety documentation. (SOPs, LOTOs and P&IDs)

  3. Maintains PMs for the refrigeration, and in some cases boiler, and air systems.

  4. Confer with operators as well as observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose root cause of malfunction.

  5. Disassemble machinery and equipment to make repairs.

  6. Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results, adjusting required to maintain refrigeration & utility systems within established limits.

  7. Periodic use and maintenance of fitted full face respirator.

  8. Assists with inventory control.

  9. Regular attendance and punctuality are required due to working within a small department, as people, items, and equipment at our facilities depend on us.

  10. Other duties as assigned by management.

     

Job Specifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  2. Technical Degree is preferred.

  3. Must have ammonia Operator I and at least 1year experience. Be able to perform task with little or no assistance and or supervision.

  4. Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience helpful.

  5. Required to be able to pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit test for respirator use.

  6. English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.

     

Working Conditions

  1. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) is required.

  2. Use of technology such as computers, mobile devices etc. preferred.
