Responsibilities You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (VERY LOW FREQUENCY TRANSMITTER) in the NAVRADSTA T JIM CREEK, COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION, NCTAMS PAC DET PUGET SOUND, SILVERDALE, OSO, WASHINGTON. You will perform repairs, installation and overhaul of various electronic components. You will perform assigned maintenance procedures utilizing the Maintenance and Material Management system. You will carry out preventative maintenance and repair on various electronic and electrical devices utilizing established procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: *Reading and interpreting blueprints, circuit diagrams, programmable logic circuitry, technical equipment maintenance and operations manuals, and specifications. *Utilizing a wide variety or electronic test instruments. *Utilizing hand tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, drills, taps, dies, wire strippers, soldering irons, solder pots, heat sinks, and solder extractors. *Working with delicate or precision parts of programmable logic circuitry. *Utilizing various standard computer programs such as Word, Access, Excel, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/federal-wage-system-qualifications/#url=WG-2600 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position requires rotating shift work. Incumbent required to utilize good manual and finger dexterity for working on delicate equipment. Near and far vision correctable by glasses sufficient for reading small print required. Color vision required to detect standard color code of wiring. Ability to hear normal conversation required (hearing aid permitted).
