Job Summary: Quality Assurance Tech. I This position is responsible for ensuring company standards are met on each shift. The QA Technician works alongside production, logistics and maintenance staff to support the production of high quality, safe and legal product. Essential Functions of the Job: Sample products at various stages of processing, including Brix, pH test and water activity. Examine finished products by sight, taste, and weight to ensure conformance to company and legal standards. Perform routine checks for product packaging quality, including date codes, film seal and palletizing formation. Set up and challenge of metal detector and x-ray machines. Manage rework and WIP to ensure code dates are maintained through the process and FIFO is followed. Verify incoming raw material for quality and verify Certification of Analysis. Calibrate equipment including pH meter, refractometer, water activity meter, and table scales. Compile various reports showing analysis of the quality of products produced. Assist QA Manager in maintaining plant certification for SQF, organic, Kosher, peanut-free, gluten-free (GFCO standards), and non-GMO. Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Policies. Responsible for Food Safety and reporting any non-compliance issues to their immediate supervisor. Serve on the Food Safety Team. Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices. Assist in training and re-training of employees. Verify cleaning and sanitation of production equipment. Perform pre-operation inspections at start of production. Perform weekly verification of temperature in coolers and change out graph. Perform/assist internal QA audits. Perform hold reconciliation. Create CAPA for missing/incorrect information, product holds. Assist in managing hold and release of non-conforming product. Create non-conformance report (SCAR) for materials and ingredients. Sign off on positive release of finished goods and QC records. Assist production where required, including backup to QC technicians. Ability to navigate and use the company's SAP (oracle) program (must be able to change item status, generate inventory and transaction reports, status change reports and recall reports). Must be able to navigate, submit and respond to any intelex programs NCR hold CAPA and supplier non-conformance and any potential new additions to Intelex. Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Minimum Qualifications: Willingness to attain HACCP and SQFI Practitioner Certification preferred. Must be able to conduct an internal audit and able to assist in managing SQFI Audit, Gluten Free and Peanut Free Audit. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Prior experience/internship with food companies an asset. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to use
