Job Description

As a senior director in the Compute organization, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture and management to the critical function of host management. Servers are the lifeblood of OCI, and enabling them to be managed efficiently and reliably is paramount to our customers' success.

You run deep, managing software development org and high-level projects, whilst developing short, medium, and long-term objectives. You interact across functional areas with senior management and executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Your teams build enhancements within the critical software architectures that run Compute, envision, and manage future improvements to the architecture.

You have the ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations, with demonstrated leadership, communication, and and people management skills, with a thorough understanding of product development.

Compute owns the core services from high-performance bare metal instances to flexible virtual machines, as well as highly sought-after GPU servers today. To do this, we build and operate world-class mission-critical distributed tier-0/1 services. We drive and own the Compute roadmap, and the modernization of the commercial cloud experience for Oracle customers. We are at the forefront of building and expanding the cloud.

Compute is looking for a senior software development director with cloud experience to join our development team. You will manage multiple organizations that consisting of software engineers and software development managers responsible for software architecture and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure.

You should be comfortable with managing and providing technical leadership at developing software that interacts closely with the hardware. You thrive at diving deep with your teams in determining the best ways to develop software manage our hosts and the complex interactions at the hardware layer. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

This role will drive major aspects of our product definition, contribute to the product strategy of our solutions, and is paramount to the reliability and efficiency of Compute.

Basic Qualifications:

7+ years of management experience in enterprise software, with management of managers

10+ years of experience with applications development with 5+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services

Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior development experience with Cloud infrastructure and hardware interactions

Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Responsibilities

As a Senior Director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks, teams, and organizations associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications their hardware interactions. You manage and define strategic goals and the roadmap, and will be responsible for executive communications to stakeholders within and outside of Compute.

US: Hiring Range: from $142,900 to $338,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
