Overview At Esri, we lead the development of the core web GIS technologies, Maps SDK for JavaScript. Join our team of exceptional software engineers to design and implement new capabilities for our mapping API using the latest technologies (Web Components, WebGL, WebGPU, Web Workers, WebAssembly, TypeScript and many more!). You will be involved at every stage of product development, from brainstorming broad ideas to ensuring quality through launch. Responsibilities Design and implement new software components for the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, spanning a wide range of topics, such as web service consumption, data processing and analysis, core library functionality, mapping, and rendering Assume a leading role in the public API design and documentation Advise in matters of software architecture and engineering Apply and promote good software engineering practices, such as test automation, modularization, and simplification Evolve and maintain our build process, test automation infrastructure, and other custom tooling Requirements 2+ years of practical experience in software development Excellent programming skills in a modern programming language Strong background in software design and architecture Excellent creative thinking and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with frequent releases and tight schedules Bachelor's in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field Recommended Qualifications Experience with JavaScript and or TypeScript Experience with advance technologies, such as Web Components, WebGL, WebGPU, Workers, WebAssembly, or Webpack Experience with API design Familiarity with GIS applications and technologies Master's in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field #LI-Hybrid #LI-JO1 Total Rewards Esri's competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
