Job Description

Oracle Database supports most demanding critically important customer requirements, operating at global scale to provide a secure, distributed, multi-tenant data platform for structured as well as unstructured data.

In this role, you will be responsible for co-architecting and developing a new cloud native service for hyperscale globally distributed converged database capabilities to store structured and unstructured data.

The service will help customer build applications requiring a high volume, high velocity, high variety data platforms. The service will also support data sovereignty/residency requirements where a data element is required to stay in certain geographic boundary. Service will be available across multiple regions and availability domains.

As a member of the product development team, you will understand customer requirements, translate them to technical specification, do system design, define the architecture, guide a team of software developers to build the service, help with operating and supporting the service (DevOps).

This is your opportunity to be a core part of the team that defines and delivers exciting new capabilities for Oracle’s flagship Database. We are seeking a candidate with strong product architecture experience in cloud platform products or services.

You will lead and coordinate efforts between multi-functional teams to develop best-in-class capabilities. You will work with Product Management, Product Development, QA, Documentation, Support and at times directly with customers, marketing and sales.

Responsibilities

  • Co-Design the architecture for cloud native service for Hyperscale Globally Distributed Database

  • Understand customer requirements and translate them in to key constructs, concepts, resource model, APIs, critical metrics, key UI elements,

  • Define the control plane architecture for supporting high availability, scalability, security, data privacy, encryption, access control, lifecycle management, monitoring, diagnostics

  • Create detailed technical specification, and hands on prototyping when needed

  • Guide product development team with implementation

  • Guide DevOps team with service operations

  • Collaborate with PM, QA, Docs, Support teams to iterate and improve service offering

  • Participate in customer events and key sales/marketing initiatives

  • Define, measure and lead customer experience metrics for collaborators

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent team’s ability to implement

  • Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
