Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, in a follow-the-sun model, the Site Reliability team keeps the Salesforce cloud and our customers protected. Salesforce is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering organization in one of our U.S. locations. As a member of the Site Reliability team, you will ensure the highest availability for our customers by quickly detecting and resolving incidents and partnering with service-owning teams on resiliency. Accomplished Site Reliability Engineers partner with our peers in the Infrastructure and R&D organizations, while proactively monitoring the overall service availability, supporting day-to-day platform operations, and resolving incidents.

Position Description:

  • Keep customer-facing services available by maintaining the constant health of the supporting systems via day-to-day operations and incident management.

  • Incident management - Provide expert execution of the incident command process, including leading and managing high severity incident bridges and driving transparent communication that promotes maximum levels of internal/external customer satisfaction

  • Problem Management - Populate and participate in the technical review of incidents, partnering with R&D teams to improve resiliency and future incident prevention.

  • Ensuring that work carried out by the Site Reliability team is executed in such a way, that complies with the company’s internal compliance policy and directives

  • Being able to discuss and resolve technical full-stack infrastructure issues and escalations with other technical staff

  • Work with and lead other members of the team in staying on top of key industry innovation and technology, and assist in team development growth

  • Identifying work opportunities and preparing or assisting with the preparation of technical proposals as required

  • Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment and troubleshoot complex issues quickly successfully handle multiple priorities

  • Enhance our monitoring systems by implementing and improving alerting, to promote early detection, full-stack and cross-platform correlation, and automated probable root cause identification

  • Automate Site Reliability Engineering operations by developing software applications and API Integrations to connect disparate systems

  • Closely partner and collaborate with Infrastructure, Engineering, Operations, Technical Support, Customer Success, and Sales Leadership to ensure alignment across the business

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent relevant experience

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience in enterprise scale, internet service engineering, or related role

  • Past experience in Incident Management and ITIL service operations

  • Expertise in TCP/IP related technologies (networking protocols, network programming, etc.)

  • Expertise in CLI enterprise support of Unix variants (Linux/Solaris/BSD) as well as strong Linux/UNIX knowledge with significant exposure to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  • Experience with monitoring implementations and administration

  • Strong communication skills (Written and Verbal)

  • Experience in working in a 24/7 team, managing enterprise infrastructure

  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing AWS (Amazon Web Services) using the CLI/SDKs

  • Experience in Kubernetes orchestration and management

  • Agile development experience/understanding

  • Experience with industry-standard KPI metrics such as Time To Detect (TTD) and Time to Resolve (TTR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Computer Science

  • GO/Python/BASH development experience

  • Slack/Chat Bot development

  • Red Hat Certification

  • Experience troubleshooting relational databases and distributed platforms

  • Experience in maintaining Java applications
