Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

Responsibilities

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is changing the way how the cloud infrastructure is getting built, deployed, managed, operated, and consumed. One of our major goals is to build hundreds of regions world-wide with different form factors. As part of that journey, we are forming a new team to create a next generation Operating Systems for Cloud Regions, that will build, deploy, manage, operate cloud regions with unmatched scale, speed and simplicity.

The Role

Building new regions is the key to organization’s success. We, in OCI, do everything to make our customers successful. We are looking for a tech-savvy Engineering Management leader to build our next generation operating systems for OCI regions. This highly visible role offers a terrific opportunity to create and own a unique service that enables OCI regions to have unmatched performance, scale, reliability, security and availability. The role needs deep understanding of software engineering and project management practices. You will drive the design, planning, building, testing, evolution, monitoring and operation.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will

  • Recruit, Hire, Build the engineering team

  • Lead and Own incremental software delivery and service

  • Drive future architecture and design

  • Partner with Product Manager and Management to build long term and short-term roadmaps

  • Own team’s operational excellence through continuous process improvements

  • Retain and Grow your engineering talent pool

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience working within an engineering team

  • 4+ years of people management experience and managing engineers. Managing managers in a strong plus.

  • 3+ years of experience architecting, designing of new or current systems

  • Strong understanding of Cloud technologies and Distributed architecture

  • Hands on experience in Agile/SCRUM methodologies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in working closely with product management team

  • Excellent communication skill. Ability to influence and collaborate with stake holders is the key to success to this role.

  • Ability to deal with unknowns.

Desired

  • Experiencing in delivering and managing a SaaS software lifecycle

  • Understanding of competitive software in the relevant field is big plus
