SUMMARY
Washington Youth & Government is a YMCA of Greater Seattle statewide program that involves hundreds of teens in model-government programs: Youth Legislature, Mock Trial, or the Conference on National Affairs.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Directo r oversees day-to-day supervision and management of Youth Legislature and Mock Trial programs and stakeholders . Plans and implements high quality programs through working directly with employees, participants, volunteers, and members.

Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise, plan, schedule, organize, facilitate, and evaluate programs to assure sound operations. This includes working with organizations across the state.
In partnership with the Executive Director, support the operational growth and vision of Youth & Government Focus on participant growth and quality participant experience including program expansion.
Serves as the primary point of contact for teams or delegations, and volunteers .
Represents and promotes the Y in the local communities and educational settings and develops positive, effective working relationships with school districts, community partners, businesses, vendors, and governmental agencies.
Create and deliver civics programs to assure high quality results which support district and association mission, goals, and strategies.
Engage, recruit, train, evaluate, and manage a large number of volunteers and stakeholders.
Lead recruitment and outreach efforts for all Youth & Government programs for participation and volunteers.
Lead communication efforts with participants, volunteers, and stakeholders
Provide support to philanthropic efforts under the director of the Executive Director.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
Oversee b usiness administrative tasks on a weekly basis in accordance with YMCA procedures and best practices.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment and in diverse communities. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Expected work is completed 2 days at home, 2 days in office (Seattle or Olympia) and the other day is flexible.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel is expected. This includes to other Youth & Government programs around the country included but not limited too; Conference on National Affairs, Governors Conference, Changemakers, National Judicial Competition, National High School Mock Trial Competition, etc.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Hybrid: This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work required as job duties demand.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit reach and must be able to move around the work environment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Working in diverse settings that require unconventional hours of operations during peak program areas, moving around to different program areas as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in youth development, political science, event and conference planning or equivalent education/experience.
21 years of age or older.
Two or more years of related experience including community program development, leading groups, event planning, working with middle and high school students.
One or more years of related experience working with adult volunteers and youth.
Excel in long term planning and organizational skills.
Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate a team and stakeholders.
Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to manage multiple priorities in an effective manner to achieve expectations and deliverables.
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
This position require s the ability to visit sites and community organizations.
Current first aid and CPR certification or secure within 90 days of employment.
Strong computer skills, comfort level with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
Knowledge of government and legal processes a plus.
