The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team builds and manages a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. Observability org of OCI is on a continued mission of delivering a world-class Integrated Observability and Management platform for our customers, that can work seamlessly across OCI, other clouds, and on-premises to provide a uniform view. Our integrated Observability and Management platform combines Logging, Monitoring, Auditing, SIEM, Events, Inventory, and other services. We will continue to innovate on each of these services to make them feature-rich world-class services on their own and integrate them seamlessly to provide meaningful insights into your resources and data! Cloud scale, OCI Logging service is a single pane of glass for all logs across the entire OCI i.e. both internal teams and external customers.

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff you will own the architecture, design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud. You will also provide technical guidance to other software developers. Specify, design, and implement changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Must-have Skills

  • BS/MS degree or equivalent in a related technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience with 8+ years of overall experience along with exposure to at least 1 cloud service provider (AWS/OCI/Azure/GCP etc).

  • Experience in building and designing microservices and/or cloud-native applications

  • This is a technological leadership role and is expected to have minimal/no supervision. Being a problem solver with a strong can-do attitude and ability to think on the go would be critical for success in this role

  • Strong fundamentals in OS, distributed systems, designing fault-tolerant and highly available systems

  • Strong in at least one of the modern programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python, Ruby, C#) along with container experiences (likes Docker/Kubernetes). Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

  • Must be detail-oriented (critical and considerate eye for detail), task-driven, and have excellent communication skills.

  • Set the technical direction for your team and work with multifunctional partners to deliver on your work. Be organized and goal-focused, ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment. Strong, creative problem-solving skills and ability to abstract and share details to create meaningful articulation.

  • Passionate about cloud technologies and solving real-world SaaS problems.

Preferred Skills or Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience with Architectural patterns for High Availability, Performance, Scale Out architecture, Disaster Recovery, and Security Architecture Knowledge of cloud-based architectures, deployment, and operational aspects of cloud setup is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be the owner of the technological space in the team - Ability to present a technological vision, architect, and drive end-to-end engineering efforts (incld development, test infrastructure, operational excellence) by being both hands-on yourself as well as providing direction to other members of the team.

  • Resolve complex technical issues and make design decisions to meet the critical requirements of this multi-OS/multi-platform scalable, highly available, secure multi-tenant enablement of services in Cloud

  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team on the technological front.

  • Work closely with all the stakeholders including the Director, Engineering manager, architects, and product and program managers to deliver product features on time and with high quality.

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent the team’s ability to execute.

  • Work with various external (application) teams integration with the product and help guide the integration.

  • Understand various Cloud technologies in Oracle to help evolve the cloud provisioning and enablement process on a continuous basis.

Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
