Meta Policy Communications Director in Olympia, Washington

Summary:

Meta is seeking an experienced Policy Communications Director to manage policy communications and executive communications that span across all policy functions within the company. This role will build and execute proactive campaigns, manage complex reactive communications, and serve as a strategic partner to our executives and teams focused on Integrity, Privacy, Wellbeing, Regulation and building for the Metaverse. Candidates should be comfortable providing counsel to c-level executives, working independently, managing a team of leaders and identifying both problems and solutions. The right person for this role must have an expert understanding of Meta’s products, public affairs campaigns and technology-related issues. They will be skilled in building proactive communication strategies, maintain strong global media relationships, possess excellent judgment in pressured situations and be confident in content development. Our team embraces critical thinkers who are as adept at providing guidance to journalists as they are at managing communications strategies on a global scale. The ideal candidate can translate complex legal and policy issues into written and verbal communications, understand the inner workings of Meta’s products and features, and motivate colleagues across time zones and functions.

Required Skills:

Policy Communications Director Responsibilities:

  1. Build and execute global proactive campaigns, manage complex reactive communications, and serve as a trusted partner to our teams

  2. Manage other high-performing leaders and guide them to do their best work

  3. Support c-level executives with thought leadership, speaking engagements, and other opportunities to demonstrate Meta’s commitment to responsible policies and enforcements

  4. Work with our global policy, legal, engineering, product and partnerships teams to build, understand and communicate corporate and product policies

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 15+ years of policy communications experience, either agency or in-house

  2. Professional experience in a related environment, e.g. technology company, government body, NGO or political environment

  3. Experience developing messaging and campaign strategy

  4. Experience working with political or business leaders to shape their communication strategies

  5. Experience working under pressure with deadlines and on complex, sensitives issues

  6. Experience managing diverse cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments, including working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including legal, public policy, and consumer marketing

  7. Experience in relationships with press and external stakeholders
