This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules. Position Purpose This position independently performs complex duties and is responsible for Liberation Scholars programs and activities throughout Western Washington. These programs serve Evergreen students attending college in prisons and on our campuses outside prisons. The person in this position is responsible for managing major functions of the program, including the following services for currently incarcerated and legally liberated scholars: 1) managing student success and reintegration services and providing leadership for the Liberation Scholars program, leading student recruitment (inside and outside of carceral settings), developing and expanding student success and reintegration services, and supporting academic and financial aid advising; 2) supervising Liberation Scholars staff, including student staff, interns, and volunteers; contributing to the co-creation of the Evergreen Prison Education Project Network as the Liberations Scholars program lead; organizing and leading education and training opportunities for students, staff, faculty and community members; 3) building and maintaining positive collaborations and partnerships with offices, centers, faculty, and staff from multiple Evergreen campus locations, and other state agency, education, and community organizations to add capacity and services that support student success; and 4) leading administrative tasks for Liberation Scholars, including development and maintenance of program data collection and reporting systems; tracking the Liberation Scholars program budget allocations, managing the Liberation Lounge space and coordinating programs within the space. Program Description Liberation Scholars is a team of legally liberated professionals and scholars that provides direct support services for system-impacted and recovering students to promote sustainable reentry to campus and the greater community through education. Liberation Scholars (established as Reentry Scholars in 2018) is part of the Evergreen Prison Education Project (EPEP), a liberation education and reintegration network based at The Evergreen State College. Liberation Scholars and Network partners aim to expand access to an Evergreen education for currently incarcerated and legally liberated people and to provide holistic support for the scholars we serve.
