This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements. Position Purpose This position reports to the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and is part of the Student Wellness, Recreation, and Athletics department. The incumbent is responsible for building and sustaining a quality, competitive intercollegiate Women's basketball program that focuses on the development of student-athletes, supports the mission of the college, and requires an understanding of and commitment to the values of The Evergreen State College and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The position plans and conducts all activities of the intercollegiate Women's basketball program, including recruiting, scheduling, fundraising, alumni relations, and student-athlete mentoring (academic, physical, emotional, and social components). This position contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Program and the larger division of Student Engagement, Equity, and Support through the support and development of student athletes. Nature and Scope Essential Functions Coach and direct intercollegiate teams and activities during competitive season (late October through mid-March), including plan and implement a daily training schedule. Coordinate and schedule home and away pre-season, non-conference games in accordance with NAIA and Cascade Collegiate Conference regulations and identified pre-season budget. Work with Athletics staff to plan and develop travel itineraries for all Conference travel trips. Coach and direct team activities in the non-competitive season (May through October), including planning and implementing Spring, Summer, and Fall training schedules within NAIA 24-week policy and creating and distributing off season fitness programs to guide student-athlete individual preparation. Manage team budget and track expenditures according to college and state policies and procedures. Supervise all support staff, including Assistant Coaches, Volunteer assistants, and student-athlete support staff; accompany and supervise teams on all travel trips Plan and implement ongoing recruitment strategy which aligns with identified program, department, and institutional objectives; in accordance with NAIA policy, coordinate campus visits, maintain database of prospective student-athletes, coordinate, and track application fee waiver requests.
