Meta Governance Manager in Olympia, Washington

Summary:

Meta is seeking a highly skilled and results driven communicator and strategic thinker to join our Governance Team as a Governance Manager. The team's mission is to partner with teams across Meta to design, build, and manage decision making mechanisms and models of governance that give people greater power over Meta’s products and decisions. We are the team that established the Oversight Board to help govern Meta’s approach to content moderation.In this role, you will be play an important role in a team that supports: 1. The Oversight Board. This will include helping to coordinate Meta’s external engagement related to the Board, such as our response to Board decisions and other public announcements. 2. Appeals Center Europe in its launch and first year of operations now that it is certified under Art 21 of the DSA. This will include helping to coordinate Meta’s external facing engagements related to ACE, such as responding to ACE announcements and other public engagements. 3. Meta’s Community Governance program. Coordinating Meta’s external engagements relating to Community Forums and other Community Governance mechanisms.The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and experience of the global content governance ecosystem, as well as being adept at coordinating communications and engagement strategies. The candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and detail oriented in their work. The candidate should also have excellent program management and communication skills, enabling them to work with key business stakeholders internally to understand project requirements, lead on the management and execution of workstreams, and represent Meta with effective communication to internal and external partners at all levels. You should be passionate about the services we provide, the people we serve and the mission of the Governance team.

Required Skills:

Governance Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Lead on coordinating Meta’s response to Oversight Board case selections, decisions, recommendation responses and other announcements

  2. Lead on coordinating Meta’s response to ACE announcements and engagements

  3. Develop an external engagement strategy for Meta’s Community Governance program

  4. Work closely with Meta’s Public Affairs team to coordinate reactive enquiries relating to Meta’s governance work

  5. Lead reputation research development on governance programs

  6. Work with the Oversight Board in its mid-long term strategy planning focused upon reputation and engagement issues

  7. Prepare updates on Governance programs for internal and external stakeholders

  8. Maintain relationships and leverage cross-functional relationships (such as legal, communications and the broader policy teams) to address project bottlenecks and advance Governance priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in communications, public affairs or political roles

  2. Proven effective communication skills, as well as demonstrated experience of problem-solving in a complex, multi-faceted environment involving multiple stakeholders with competing and shifting priorities

  3. Experience working directly with executives and stakeholders

  2. Experience in or understanding of the process of at-scale content moderation

  3. Experience in project design and management and playing a lead program or project management role

Public Compensation:

$119,000/year to $177,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
