SHI FinOps Consultant in Olympia, Washington

Job Summary

The Cloud Optimization/FinOps Solutions Consultant is responsible for the development and delivery of public cloud and hybrid FinOps consulting services to SHI customers. This is a customer-facing role with significant interaction with both technical and non-technical resources. Typical responsibilities for the solutions consultant include development of models for FinOps analysis and reporting, complex presales engagements, enablement, advanced data analysis and recommendations, and mentoring of other FinOps team members.A successful candidate in this role will demonstrate an extensive understanding of public cloud and hybrid resources, proficiency of the FinOps Framework, multi-cloud competency, critical thinking, mentoring, training, and data analysis.

Daily activities include: assisting customers with cost optimization strategies, use of FinOps platforms, use of cloud native tooling, building complex analysis and reporting in Excel, implementing automaton, project management, technical and financial analysis, customer and internal meetings, and mentoring and assisting teammates.

This position is a remote position however may be required to report to SHI locations as required for business needs as determined by SHI leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical delivery resource and subject matter expert on FinOps customer projects, collaborating with others, facilitate customer meetings, and being accountable for the outcome of the project

  • Assist sales team in identifying, scoping, and closing opportunities, leveraging research, customer meetings, reporting, presentations, and delivery of FinOps services

  • Delivery of FinOps services, FinOps education & enablement of AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid, and other public cloud environments

  • Research, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of novel and creative strategies for cloud optimization and cloud governance

  • Develop relevant automation, documentation, processes, and standardization of FinOps solutionsand culture within both customers’ organizations and SHI

  • PowerShell, python and bash scripting for automation, documentation, and standardization

Qualifications

  • Passion for technology with 7 years of technical experience with increasing responsibility

  • At least 3 years public multi-cloud and FinOps experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computing, finance, data analytics, engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with industry leading FinOps tools

  • Expert understanding of Cloud and Hybrid infrastructure, best practices, governance, monitoring, alerting, automation, and the well-architected framework

Required Skills

  • Senior consultants need advanced competency with at least 2 of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP infrastructure and services, the FinOps Framework and practices, and exceptional analytical skills

  • Ability to provide explanation and application of public cloud and hybrid cost models, basic FinOps vocabulary, concepts, processes, and basic financial and accounting knowledge

  • Advanced Excel and Power BI knowledge and experience - proficiency with sophisticated formulas, pivot tables, automation, and complex reporting

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

  • Dexterity to work effectively within all levels of an organization, both internally and externally, across verticals

  • Aptitude to work both individually and in a team environment

  • Effective communication skills, with mastery of presenting ideas in a clear, concise manner to technical, non-technical, and C-level audiences

  • Emotional intelligence

  • Preferred skills-PowerShell, Python, Terraform, SQL, and Kubernetes

Certifications Required

  • At least one of the following from 2 different clouds: An Associate Level Certification or higher in AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • AWS – AWS Solution Architect – Associate, AWS Developer – Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator – Associate, or AWS Solution Architect – Professional

  • Azure – Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ104), Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

  • GCP – Cloud Engineer-Associate, Cloud Architect-Professional, or Cloud Developer-Professional

  • VMware Aria Cost Powered by CloudHealth Administrator Certification within 45-days in role

Unique Requirements

  • Travel to client sites, up to 10%

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $80,000 - $135,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
