Providence St. Joseph Health Facilities Engineer in Olympia, Washington

Description Facilities Engineer - Providence St. Peter Hospital - Olympia, WA SCHEDULE: Full-Time position; Third shift/swing shift. Shift differential included in addition to base salary. Summary Monitors, operates, maintains and improves physical plant systems and equipment to ensure reliable, efficient, safe, clean and comfortable facility operation in support of patient care. These systems include: heating, ventilating and air conditioning, steam and hot water generation, power generation, pumping, controls, transportation systems (elevators, pneumatic tube), medical and compressed gases, electrical and life safety (Fire Protection/Detection), fuel and water treatment. Documents building operations, incidents and specific maintenance and repair activities - all in accordance with policies and/or applicable standards. Essential Functions Continuous monitoring of physical plant operation for efficiency, appropriate operating parameters (temperature, pressure, status), cleanliness, and safety. This includes visual inspection of all systems during each shift and use of centralized controls. Perform adjustments to systems as necessary. Perform testing, corrective and preventive maintenance of systems as assigned or as required. Maintain shift log sheet, complete work orders and purchase request forms as required. Analyze and report plant system failures or deviation from routine operation. Test and monitor water chemistry for steam, heating and chilled water loops. Maintain assigned mechanical rooms and service equipment in clean, well-maintained, safe and reliable condition. Utilize equipment, supplies and repair parts as recommended by manufacturer, policy and plant practices. Perform job duties in accordance with hospital policy, applicable safety and health regulatory standards. Assist and coordinate authorized work of others. Communicate assessment of physical plant operation. Ensures respectful customer service. Ability to troubleshoot system operating problems and return to proper operation with minimal impact to patient care. Demonstrates maintenance and operation of mechanical valves, electrical disconnects, pneumatic and digital controls, variable frequency drives. Able to work independently during shifts other than normal hours. Required Qualifications: Coursework/Training: Additional vocational training. Hands-on experience of operation and maintenance of commercial heating and air conditioning systems. Why Join Providence?
