Oracle Energy Efficiency Research Intern - Energy and Water in Olympia, Washington
We’re looking for an intern to join our Energy Efficiency Research team at Oracle Energy and Water (Opower). You’ll contribute to the rapidly growing field of behavioral energy efficiency and develop a deep understanding of how utilities deliver content to and engage with their customers around the world. This is an ideal internship for a hands-on achiever who is excited to provide energy-saving advice to millions of customers, which leads to measurable energy efficiency results. As an Intern, you’ll research and write content for the Opower’s product solutions. This position will enable you to grow your research skills and give you opportunities to be mentored and work alongside a diverse and experienced team of energy and product development professionals.
What you’ll do:
Research and write consumer-facing energy-saving tip content. To change behavior, we need to tell people which behaviors matter most. Our tip library is at the core of our success, where we translate motivation to action. You would be responsible for editing and/or writing those tips to ensure we’re directing attention towards those impactful behaviors. You’ll have the opportunity to write about energy efficiency and renewable energy (e.g. residential solar, electric vehicles, peak management etc.).
Research how households use energy and use your findings to develop innovative methods of targeting and prioritizing energy-saving tips. This includes constructing and maintaining data-intensive Excel tools.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and UX researchers and learn about the product development process.
Learn about the behavioral science principles we use at Opower to help millions of households save energy, and apply these principles in creating content.
What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):
To be considered for a Energy Efficiency Research Intern position in the Global Industry Units, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Will be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in environmental science, energy policy or related fields during the 2024-2025 school year.
Qualitative research skills, with attention to detail and quality of source material
Excited about helping people save energy and an interest in learning about behavioral science
Organized and collaborative
Looking to develop project management skills
Fluent in English with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable with (or learning more about) basic HTML and intermediate Excel skills (e.g. functions like =vlookup)
Attend a university in the US
Authorized to work in the US in 2024

US: Hiring Range: from $18.99 to $53.00 per hour; from $39,500 to $110,240 per annum.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
