  • Responsible for maintaining agency digital and analog telecommunications equipment and radio networks. This includes digital microwave networks, radio base stations, dispatch consoles, and repeaters throughout the region and state.  
  • Due to the large area covered, telecommunications system maintenance and repair often requires work to be conducted alone, in rough terrain, and in remote locations.  This involves the use of 4-wheel drive vehicles, UTVs, snowmobiles, and snowcats.  
  • Perform annual maintenance to manufacturers and FCC specifications using Service Monitors and associated equipment. Building and tower structures are inspected for defects or damage and reported or repaired as necessary.
  • Maintains and repairs mountaintop radio sites, monitoring equipment, and off-grid power systems.

*Required Qualifications: *

  • General Radio Operators License.
  • Two years of formal education in electronics AND five years of paid experience in maintenance and repair in at least two of the following areas: two-way radio frequency communications systems, digital microwave carrier systems, or data systems. OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. OR Two years experience as an Electronics Communications System Tech - Field
  • Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
