Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new services that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

We’re looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems and highly available services. Our consulting member of technical staffs are senior engineers who are very deep into the technology, in this role, you will work with a team of software engineers responsible for the software architecture and development of major components in the developer productivity area . You should be comfortable with low level operating systems development, be able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and higher level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Our consulting member of technical staffs are also the people who can work independently and provide technical leadership to the organization. You should have experience developing and operating high-scale services, and understanding of how to make these cloud-scale services resilient. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and productive; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You understand operational excellence and know how to infuse a culture of being proactive within your team. You recommend and justify major changes to existing products and establish consensus with data-driven approaches.

• You have solid communication skills. You can clearly explain complex technical concepts.

• You work well with non-engineers. You can lead a conversation in a room with designers, engineers, and product managers.

• Experience driving architecture. You have a strong sense of ownership, and are able to drive development of new projects and features to completion.

• You are comfortable working at all levels of the stack.

Minimum Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience shipping services software

• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals, networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.

• Experience in Event driven technologies like Apache Kafka

• Experience using contain orchestration tools - Docker, Kubernetes

• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies.

• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS in Computer Science

• Experience in a start-up environment

• Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

• Strong grasp of Unix-like operating systems

• Hands-on experience developing cloud services on Oracle Cloud/AWS/GCP/Azure

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
