Responsibilities: This position works in consultation with State Uplands program managers and the Office of Budget and Economics to conduct research and formulate recommendations on strategic and long-range business planning. This work should lead to increases in revenue production on DNR-managed lands and stabilization of funding options for the programs. This includes providing recommendations on highly complex business issues, conducting research and developing reports, providing analysis on market trends, providing options for managers to make prudent decisions concerning the management of valuable assets, and developing and implementing processes for monitoring and measuring outcomes of activities.

*Required Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance and accounting, public administration, land or asset management, natural resource commodities, or related field AND five years of experience that must include at least two of the following areas:
    • Analyzing policies, laws, rules, and regulations, and establishing guidance.
    • Managing business operations or natural resource assets.
    • Leading business projects, business finance projects, or policy development and guidance.
    • Conducting research and analysis of business lines or commodities, market trends, asset management, or finance.
    • Developing requirements and recommendations.
    • Leasing or sales of natural resource commodities such as timber, wheat, minerals, etc.
    • Implementing process improvement. OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as an expert in the use of Microsoft Excel.
