Job Description Summary

The Enterprise Talent Management (ETM) organization partners with business leaders and human resources generalists to execute talent management best practices to ensure a pipeline of top talent for succession to key roles. As the AVP, Enterprise Talent Management Practices, you will develop and implement innovative talent solutions, from early career through executive talent. You will advance and execute our core enterprise talent practices of performance management, talent calibration, succession management, and talent planning. You will co-lead the creation of an enterprise approach to career development and develop and lead consistent approaches to operational excellence across ETM practice areas. You will leverage your collaboration and leadership skills to advance the technology ecosystem in support of enterprise talent solutions.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Co-lead a cross-HR enterprise team to create a consistent approach and consolidated set of tools for employees to navigate and grow their careers at Travelers and lead our ongoing enterprise approach to career development.

  • Evaluate, design, and execute performance and talent assessment initiatives and resources to improve results, enhance experience, and deliver against diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities.

  • Design and execute succession management programs, including practices to assess employee potential, identify successors, and implement action plans to retain, prepare, and advance our succession pipeline.

  • Create an ETM dashboard measuring the return on human capital investment of our talent solutions and providing other key insights on the impact of these solutions.

  • Partner with our HR Operations and Technology teams to drive operational excellence across ETM and the implementation of our talent solutions through an integrated technology suite.

  • Utilize external market insights to identify trends, inform talent management strategies, and provide advice to senior leaders.

  • Lead other ETM professionals, both in project teams and in direct reporting relationships.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.

  • Ten years of Human Resource experience with talent management, employee engagement, organizational development, leadership development, succession management, data and analytics, leadership, and relationship management.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • Master’s Degree in human resources or a related field.

  • Proven work experience as a Director of Talent Management or similar role, leading a team of professionals.

  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing performance management, succession management and career development programming.

  • Success in coaching individual leaders.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to find innovative solutions to problems and oversee a team to achieve business goals.

  • Exceptional project management skills with experience selecting and managing external vendors, managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously and following through to ensure excellence in execution.

  • Technological mindset with the ability to assess and use state-of-the-art technologies supporting talent, learning and development, internal talent marketplace, and career and performance development.

  • Previous experience capturing metrics and creating reports that drive insights and decision-making.

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment, with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate and influence decisions across all levels of the organization.
