JOB SUMMARY

Marriott’s Data Center & Cloud Networks team is a fast-paced and innovative group that builds network infrastructure to connect hotel guests, properties, and partners. Our cloud data centers host applications such as the Marriott Bonvoy reservations and rewards programs. We are a rapidly growing team that provides the opportunity for autonomy and growth!

Reporting into the Senior Director, Data Center & Cloud Networks, the Associate Network Architect is responsible for designing optimal LAN and WAN networks comprising of routers, switches, firewalls, and load-balancers. This includes networks in data centers, corporate offices, and third-party co-location PoP sites all which host applications and interconnect hotel properties, users, systems, partners, vendors, and public/private cloud networks with a focus on disaster recovery. This role has a heavy emphasis on managing firewalls including segmentation, DMZs, remote access, and overall policy/rules management.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related OR equivalent total years of experience and/or certification

  • 7+ years of overall Information Technology networking experience including:

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, and designing, specifically focused on building, and managing Data Center Networks within a Hybrid environment.

  • 5+ years of experience in an IT infrastructure lead role, showcasing proficiency in routing protocols, switch fabric technology, firewall security, and load-balancing architecture, including Network Architecture and design.

  • Must have in-depth expertise in implementing and Architecting Network Security, Firewall solutions over in AWS Network Firewall, Checkpoint and Palo Alto Networks.

  • Strong experience with AWS networking services (VPC, Direct Connect, Route 53, AWS Network Firewall, Transit Gateway etc.) and Azure networking services (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, DNS, etc.).

  • Proficiency in designing and implementing highly available and fault-tolerant network architectures on AWS and Azure platforms.

  • Solid understanding of cloud-based networking concepts, including virtualization, software-defined networking, and network automation.

  • Deep technical knowledge inclusive of network routing protocols (BGP), subnetting, network ARPs, VRF and traceroute

  • Experience in technical writing and delivering written document pertaining to network solutions and diagrams

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.

  • Certification such as CCIE, CCNP, CCSA, CCSE, PCNSE, F5 Certified Technical Specialist, or other relevant certifications.

  • Additional certifications, such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty or Azure Network Engineer Associate, are considered a plus.

  • Preferred expertise in Palo Alto, AWS Network and Check Point firewall engineering, Architecture, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in F5 LTM and GTM load balancing .

  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to overcome barriers while driving change through collaboration.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Technology Management

  • Manage and lead the design, architect, configuration, low level engineering and deployment of Cloud Networks and Load Balancing solutions, specializing in Palo, Checkpoint firewalls and multi cloud Networks

  • Define strategy and roadmap, provides guidance, creates standards and guidelines, and reviews architectural designs. Ensures standards and guidelines incorporate legal and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee and direct the implementation of new systems in collaboration with cloud and datacenter network teams, ensuring optimal performance for hosting Marriott applications.

  • Approve and supervise projects, ensuring timely delivery of services and adherence to project deadlines.

  • Manage vendor relationships at SME level to ensure compliance with engineering design, network implementation, and technical support service obligations.

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, presenting best practices, technical concepts, and innovative solutions for Marriott Data Center & Cloud Networks.

Technical Leadership

  • Function as an IT network technical subject matter expert (SME)

  • Contribute and drive effectively to manage project schedules, risks, and costs.

  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work

  • Conduct training and mentorship programs for team members and peers, as deemed appropriate.

  • Foster cross-team relationships across Marriott to collaboratively define services and meet service level requirements.

  • Act as an escalation point to address service delivery, technical design, and architectural issues.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize and enhance service delivery processes.

  • Review vendor proposals and help select appropriate vendor for services/technologies

IT Governance

  • Follow all defined standards and processes (e.g. IT Governance, SM&G, and Architecture)

  • Provide input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed

  • Maintain a proper balance between business and operational risk

  • Follow the defined project management and/or standards and processes

The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $179,270 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
