Merck Associate Director, Associate Creative Director (Design) - Remote in Olympia, Washington

Job Description

Our Company's Creative Studios, the in-house advertising creative agency, provides support for internal and external marketing and communication needs across all Divisions at our company.

Position Description:

As a full-service in-house agency with digital, video, and social capabilities, this role will be supporting multiple brands and corporate communications within our company.

The Associate Director – ACD Design will be responsible for driving consistent high-quality creative across multiple channels, effectively translating client needs and strategy across a broad range of work that exceeds client expectations. The new AD will focus on external work as AOR for 6 Global Human Health mature in-line brands (targeting HCPs, patients, and KOLs) as well 18 US Human Health brands across multiple therapeutic areas (vaccines, hospital specialty, diabetes, oncology). The ideal candidate will oversee and create high value/high priority Corporate Communications content for employees and investors, including patient and employee videos for both the US and Global audiences, as well as create content for new brand launches.

This role will bring innovative ideas and new creative solutions to our clients, enhancing the culture and reputation of MCS, and being a brand steward.

This position is location agnostic.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Art Direction for a broad range of projects across digital, video and print and social, focused on external work—including Corporate Communications, Human Health, Global Human Health, Oncology, and HH Digital Engagement Teams (Agile)

  • Maintain consistency of client brand strategy and style guidelines across all marketing materials

  • Assure that the corporate brand resource center (BRC) guidelines are followed in all content

  • Collaborate with creative team to provide creative solutions through different media

  • Ensure creative scope is accurate and deliverables meet business objectives

  • Recommend improvements to tools and processes that improve creative quality and increase efficiency

  • Present MCS in house agency capabilities to new customers

  • Motivate, mentor, and lead a high-performance creative team of designers and copywriters

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Fine Arts, Digital Media, Communications Design (or related field)

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in best--in-class advertising/digital agency

  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare advertising

  • Experience with current ad tech, skilled in integrating overall design and message with digital platforms and websites (SharePoint, Jira, In design)

  • Working knowledge of digital design tools and technology platforms such as Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, Jira, etc.

  • Experience creating integrated marketing and advertising communications

  • Experience managing creative teams including independent contractors

  • Client facing experience, has confidence and leadership presence

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Team player and one who creates a nurturing and supportive culture
