We are currently in search of a highly motivated HVAC/R Technician to perform repairs, overhaul, maintenance, installation and servicing of commercial, industrial, and residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The incumbent operates, maintains, tests, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs digital control systems. This Technician will need skills to review drawings, specifications, equipment submittals and documents to efficiently perform the duties in accordance with local, state and federal codes and guidelines. The HVAC/R Technician must be able to work independently, recognize potential hazards, take measures to avoid risks, and minimize any impact to the customer. The incumbent will keep their Supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Repairs, overhauls, maintain, installs and services HVAC equipment and control systems.

  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, motors, etc.

  • Understanding of supervisory control systems.

  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal, written instructions.

  • Available to stand rotating duty to respond to emergency situations after hours, holidays and weekends for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • Performs other duties, in and out of Trade, as assigned.

Accountable For:

  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.

  • Adheres to company policies and regulations.

  • Work closely and harmoniously with fellow workers and maintain professional relationship with Navy environmental personnel and all internal and external customers.

  • Must be able to resolve conflicts at the lowest levels.

  • Seamless coordination with Leads, Supervisors and Managers to outline work required; then to follow up to ensure company and contractual objectives are achieved.

  • Expected to work independently, with minimum supervision.

  • Supports, follows, and enforces the Company’s Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety. Follows established safety procedures and utilize safety protective equipment and clothing when required.

  • Follow all Federal, State and Local safety and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed in all areas of responsibility to include maintenance shops, shop maintenance vehicles, outlying maintenance areas, mechanical rooms, jobsites, etc.


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).

  • Three (3) years’ verifiable experience as a commercial HVAC technician or at the journeyman level.

  • EL-06A License.

  • Refrigeration transition and recovery technician certification, Type III (Universal).

  • Communicate, both orally and in writing, in the English language.

  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire background check, drug screen.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

  • U.S. Citizenship.


  • DDC and pneumatic control experience.

  • Experience working with Governmental agencies, BOS contracting.

  • Confined space entry training (certified entrant/attendant/supervisor.

  • DOT Hazardous Materials Training in compliance with 49 CFR 171 - 181.

  • Respiratory protection training/qualified.

  • Computer literacy with Microsoft® Word, Excel, and Access software

  • Five (5) years’ verifiable experience as a commercial HVAC technician at the journeyman level. With an emphasis on commercial refrigeration work experience.

  • Network DDC building environmental control experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Work may also occur at heights or in confined spaces.

  • Work will frequently be performed at construction sites, near and around aircraft, near moving machinery and energized electrical equipment.

  • Seldomly may be requested to travel to one of the remote locations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing & walking.

  • Frequent driving to and from job sites.

  • Must be able to lift 75lbs and team lift over 75lbs (average lift 30-40lbs).

  • Occasional Pushing/ pulling, climbing stairs, climbing ladders.

  • Occasional kneeling, squatting, bending and twisting at the waist or reaching above head.

  • Seldom crawling or repetitive arm/hand movement.
