Fire Alarm System Mechanic II Location: Oak Harbor, Washington (Naval Air Station Whidbey Island) Type: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift Compensation: $49.87 - $49.87/hour ($5,000 Sign-on Bonus and potential relocation bonus of up to $5,000 offered.) Skookum is seeking a dedicated and proactive Fire Alarm System Mechanic II with a positive attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Test and inspect building water-base fire protection systems. Test fire related backflow assemblies. Work towards qualifying as a WA state backflow specialty plumber (PL30). Perform scheduled maintenance on fire protection systems to include: AFFF Deluge, Low-Expansion Foam, Pre-Action, Dry, Water Mist and Water Spray, Pressure-Reducing Valves, and fixtures. Assist in adjustment, repair, or replacement of leaky joints, pipes, valves, and other equipment and components to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related fire protection systems. Additionally adjust, repair, or replace support system like compressors, nitrogen generators, and vacuum air systems, valves, and other associated systems, equipment, and components. Obstruction and impairments investigation and repair. Operate, test, and repair both electric and engine driven fire pumps. Apply all NFPA and UFC code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance. Limited knowledge on how to operate Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) to perform required maintenance. Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment. Operate support equipment like: Self Propelled Boom Lifts Ensure all requirements are met as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures. Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded. Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements. Assist in maintaining preventive maintenance and repair records. Read and understand drawings, work plans and maps. Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Inspection and Testing Water-Based Level II technician (ITWBS-II) Must be able to use hand tools, power tools and appliances required for the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and pipes.
