Job Description: Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Mgr. The right time is now to come join us as we grow and expand to meet our customers' needs. The Engineering Manager is the top engineering position of an operating unit. Plans, directs, coordinates, and participates in all phases of design, manufacturing, and related engineering used in an operating unit. Participates with the Production Manager to produce complex mechanical and electromechanical products, concentrating on engineering design, processes, and systems. Organizes, trains, supervises, and coordinates a diverse range of activities around conversion of design to fabrication and production, concentrating on quality, utility, and cost-reduction. Main Duties and Responsibilities The position is recognized as the expert of several key processes within the Division. Reviews product requirements and evaluates and determines all manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, during pre-production design phase and after engineering releases to manufacturing. In conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager, determines and implements manufacturing practices and cost-reduction projects and processes. Directs the activities of all manufacturing process engineering, tooling design, quality engineering, including all technical support. Directs design engineering related to the division's product lines. Participates in the research and development of new products and enhancements. Establishes prototype manufacturing practices, evaluating efficiency, cost, and quality. Directs drafting department in preparation of drawings, procedures, sketches, etc., necessary for the development of new products and product enhancements. Participates with manufacturing in the development of processes and molds necessary to produce parts and components. Directs and conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product line. Coordinates all engineering releases and change notices relative to design, manufacturing, specifications, standards, and follow-up to problems with existing products. Directs, with the help of tooling leadership, the construction of all tooling; assures accuracy and timeliness. Along with the Manufacturing Manager and through the Maintenance Supervisor, directs all programs and activities of the Maintenance Department. Ensures the company's safety efforts comply with outside regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, insurance carriers, etc.; ensures conformity to internal safety philosophies and practices as well. Oversees and coordinates the activities of outside contractors, internal project leaders, and others who are involved with construction of plant expansions or alterations. Directs, coordinates, and researches and analyzes engineering sketches, product specifications, and internal and customer design proposals to determine feasibility of significant designs or enhancements. Establishes schedules, staffing requirements, time lines, and a budget for complex projects involving other teams and customers. Initiates design proposals, working with sales, manufacturing, and customers. Innovates variations to proposals, assigning follow-up work to team members. Supervises Engineers and Designers and/or designs products or systems such as (but not limited to) structural members, chassis, power transmission systems
