Commander, Navy Installations LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT/HAZMAT TECH) in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington
Summary You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT/HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIAN in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND. Responsibilities You will prepare patients for transport to medical facilities. You will direct the placement of firefighting equipment to ensure maximum utilization in fire control, aircraft crash, or rescue operations. You will perform structural firefighting and rescue duties in buildings, housing units, or confined spaces to eliminate and control fires. You will instruct training for members of other fire departments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; and 3) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander, Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached a copy of your transcript or certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
