As a Senior Benefits Administrator – Leaves and Accommodations you will develop, implement, and manage an integrated accommodation and absence management program for Premera. Your role will include managing the administration of disability accommodation, Federal, State and Voluntary leave programs, employee assistance, workers compensation, and transitional duty programs.

What you'll do

  • Refine, implement and manage Premera’s leaves and accommodations programs

  • Keep abreast of applicable state and federal regulations related to leaves and accommodations programs and implement new regulations as required by law

  • Develop strategies to create awareness/understanding of Premera’s leaves and accommodations programs

  • Provide consultation as the subject matter expert to Human Resource partners, management, and/or employees regarding leaves, accommodations, workers compensation and/or unemployment matters and acting as liaison for employee with our carriers and vendors as appropriate

  • Facilitates reasonable accommodations through coordination with Human Resource partners, consultants, managers, vendors, etc.

  • Respond to unemployment and worker’s compensation claims

  • Manage external vendor partners and implement appropriate strategies to control claim costs and utilization for fully insured and self-funded programs, while analyzing vendor process and performance to promote for optimal effectiveness

  • Develop standard reporting and dashboard metrics that demonstrate overall health of the programs

  • Identify key trends and opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the programs and promote prompt return to health and work for employees

  • Manage leave and accommodation cases and liaise with internal and/or external partners as well as employees

  • Manage a committee of internal stakeholders who meet regularly and are responsible for reviewing and providing guidance on leaves and accommodations related matters

What you'll bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 4 years equivalent work experience.

  • 5 years hands-on experience in employee benefits administration that includes current knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to benefit plans and experience working with HRIS/HRT Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Workday a plus.

  • Bachelors or master's degree in business, human resources, accounting, finance, or a related area.

  • Strong business and systems thinker

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, is decisive and has the expert ability to analyze and synthesize data in order to provide solutions to achieve the desired results

  • Experienced in managing and providing consultation on complex leave/disability/accommodations cases

  • Proven leadership skills in vendor and/or people management

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
