As a Compensation Consultant , you play an important role in shaping Premera's growth and transformation by providing guidance on Compensation issues to the organization. This role is key in the implementation, administration, and revision of compensation and performance review programs to attract, retain, and motivate all employees or groups of employees. You will work collaboratively with your client group(s) and work with all levels including Senior Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team members focusing on the delivery of job analysis, market competitiveness analysis, and reporting of base and variable compensation plans and programs. As a member of the Total Rewards team, you will provide HR leadership and consultation to help influence the organization to operate in alignment with Premera's Purpose and Values while supporting the improvement of organizational performance. You will be a strong business and systems thinker, demonstrating solid judgment and decisiveness and will analyze and synthesize data to provide solutions that get business results.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with design of compensation programs and implement and continuously improve compensation programs and processes that are a vehicle to attract, motivate and retain highly productive employees.

  • Identify key compensation trends, issues and opportunities, offer alternatives and recommend action plans to assigned clients, management or executives that support the Pay for Performance Philosophy.

  • Provide guidance to the business and develop methodological solutions on a variety of total compensation issues including the setting of appropriate pay levels, base pay, annual incentive pay and other rewards.

  • Partner closely with Compensation team, management and other HR expert teams on design, policy development, guidelines, and implementation of key compensation programs.

  • Provide strategic consulting on compensation plans and programs that support business goals. Actively participate in rollout of company-wide HR initiatives and programs.

  • Ensure effective management and maintenance of current plans, systems and tools, including but not limited to; participating in assigned salary surveys, evaluating jobs using established systems, determining pay grade assignments, FLSA status, etc., maintaining the company's salary grades and job classification structures within HR systems and tools and analyzing pay practices ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with all applicable legal standards.

  • Proactively maintain business knowledge of client group(s), Premera and the industry

  • Represent Total Rewards leadership to assigned clients, management or executives and models Premera's values.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, human resources management or four years of work experience.

  • Six years of experience in progressive business environment, including three years of experience in compensation as an analyst with financial analysis, business analysis, data analytics or reporting responsibilities.

  • MBA or Professional Certification, e.g., CCP, preferred.

  • Experience in operating in a matrix organization. Broad business experience.

  • Knowledge of current compensation processes, practices, and employment law with experience applying this knowledge in various situations within an organization.

  • Knowledge of compensation theory, planning, design, audit and trends with emphasis on market pricing and modeling and analysis experience; what if scenarios, interpretation of compensation plans.

  • High attention to detail, strong organization skills and meticulous analytical capability.

  • Ability to communicate financial data and systems in an understandable manner to all levels of management and staff. Proven ability to effectively facilitate groups and strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects successfully in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to consult effectively with all levels of management including executives, the ability to influence others without direct position power, and to earn credibility and client trust. Demonstrated skill and effectiveness as a relationship builder and internal consultant.

  • Advanced level skill in the operation and utilization of software such as Microsoft Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
