City of Moses Lake Project Engineer in Moses Lake, Washington
*The City of Moses Lake is accepting applications for a Project Engineer position in the Public Works Department. *
The Project Engineer performs complex, advanced and senior level coordination, management, and oversight of the engineering review process for assigned projects. The purpose of the position is to monitor the progress and assist in the execution of capital improvement projects, including planning, design, review, project implementation, bidding, contract management, and public outreach under the supervision of the City Engineer. Apply engineering theories and principles to varied and comprehensive engineering design projects. Provide technical supervision over engineering design technicians.
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: Coordinates the services of professional consultants and contractors. Determines project scope and prepares request for proposal. Recommends and monitors consultant services to ensure compliance with professional engineering standards, mandated rules and regulations, contractual obligations, and approved budgets. Provides project management for Engineering and Public Works projects. Oversees assigned projects to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules, ensuring project milestones are met and projects are delivered on time. Directs Design Technicians for drafting and surveying assigned projects. Prepares a Design Report for plans, specifications, and preliminary cost estimates for Public Works projects. Reviews plan and specifications prepared by division staff, resolves construction and design problems, and prepares change orders when necessary. Participates in the long-range planning process of determining and prioritizing Capital Improvement Projects. Reviews engineering construction plans, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and related documents prepared by consulting engineers for compliance with City Standards and practices. Facilities timely review of design plans by other utility and regulatory agencies.
