Position Summary

Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington invites applications for a Dean of Workforce Education.

The Dean of Workforce Education provides strategic planning, leadership, and management for workforce education programs. The Dean is a key member of the instructional leadership team. The Dean represents the college externally, working with state, local, and federal agencies, as well as with area industries and with K-12 partners.

The Dean of Workforce Education reports to the Vice President of Learning & Student Success.  The Dean works closely with members of the Instructional Council, President's Cabinet, faculty, and staff to ensure the successful completion of the college's goals and objectives.

Essential Job Duties

PRIMARY WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership and supervision for workforce education programs, courses, faculty and staff.

Provide leadership and strategic planning for student success, retention, and degree completion in workforce education programs.

Lead faculty in developing quarterly and annual class schedules based on student and community needs and historic enrollment trends.   

Manage faculty teaching loads based on class schedules, student enrollment, and the BBCC Faculty Negotiated Agreement.

Serve on probationary tenure committees and support their work including performing observations, arranging for evaluation surveys and visits, and ensuring report are compiled and submitted.

Manage student enrollment by monitoring quarterly class enrollments and adding or canceling classes based on enrollment and student need.

Provide leadership for integration of technology and inclusive pedagogy in workforce education programs and courses.
