Wage Range: $47.67 - $76.63 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.

    JOB SUMMARY: Accurately performs ultrasound procedures in an acute care setting. Seeking an experienced Ultrasonographer to work per-diem covering inpatient and outpatient and/or share in weekend call rotation once/month for Emergency Department and in-patients. Experience in Abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, Doppler and Color-flow Ultrasound. May perform Vascular studies as assigned. Knowledgeable in the use of Mechanical Sector, Linear Array and Trans-Vaginal Transducers. Follows transvaginal cleaning/soaking/safety requirements/standards. Experienced in the use of laser printers. Hospital EMR, Tele-Radiology and PACS/RIS systems. EDUCATION:

    Must be ARDMS registered within 6 months of hire and have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilizes proper patient identification procedures prior to ultrasound examination, verifies physician orders, documents in medical record when appropriate, and performs procedures correctly per departmental policy and vendor guidelines.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the ultrasound equipment including transducer cleaning/sterilizing.

  • Obtains and documents patient's history, documents lab work results, obtains patient's Imaging Services film jacket and physician orders.

  • Delivers individualized patient care consistent with established standards of care, policies and procedures, and other regulatory standards.

  • Explains procedure to patient and identifies patient’s significant other's need for patient education; provides education or identifies appropriate resources to the patient.

  • Assists Radiologist during physical procedures, son graphic examination or performance of procedure.

  • Remains knowledgeable of all current departmental policies and procedures and protocols.

  • Performs routine maintenance duties in the Ultrasound Department.

  • Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to Clinical Manager of the department.

  • Completes department specific competencies per requirements and hospital policy, including CME requirements.

  • Provides or assists with orientation of new and existing staff and students when necessary.

  • Monitors patient flow and adapts schedule according to shifting priorities.

  • Participates in "on-call" duties with other sonographers.

  • Maintains a clean and safe environment in the department utilizing established infection control techniques which promotes quality patient care.

  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Complies with all infection control policies.

  • This position will help cover vacations and participate in regular on call rotation coverage.

  • Performs other duties as required.

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 3000.
