Responsible for the total direct nursing care of all patients within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assesses plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates individualized, professional patient care to pediatric through geriatric patients within the medical surgical telemetry unit (MSTU). Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, and the state Nurse Practice Act. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and critical thinking ability required to function on the unit and to respond to rapidly changing patient needs. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific appropriate treatment and care. Participates in unit and hospital Performance Improvement activities. Assumes Charge Nurse Role as assigned.
Requires WA State Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS). Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire and NIHSS Stroke Certification within 90 days of hire date. Prefer candidates with BSN degree.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW.
