The Alzheimer's Association Staff Accountant in Lynnwood, Washington

Description Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will work in any of the Alzheimer's Association regional offices in Region 1 and 2 to assist the regions with accounts payable, maintain all financial records and supporting documents of the Alzheimer's Association, and other accounting tasks. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) entry level position based out of Arizona, Northern California, Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho, Washington or Oregon and will report to the Region 1&2 Accounting Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Fully responsible for Accounts Payable functions including vendor setup, rent invoices, and monitoring of payments. Approve expense reports and answer queries regarding expenses and credit cards in Workday. Help with annual budget. Track federal government grant spending, staff hours, and prepare monthly reports on the same. Provide backup for federal monitoring activities of grants in region. Assist in the preparation of required schedules and documentation for annual audit and assist with the preparation and compilation of data necessary to complete Form 990. Be the backup mail processor and assist in bank reconciliations for the region. Support the Regional Finance Director in the planning and monitoring of budgets, preparing of various cost estimates, proposals, contract renewals, and special projects as required. Other accounting tasks as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting or AA degree in Finance with experience. Preferably at least two to three years of experience in day-to-day operations of accounting and finance department. Good fundamental understanding of accounting concepts like accounts payable, general ledger, budgeting and payroll information for an accounting unit. Thorough understanding of developing and working with Excel spreadsheets. Working knowledge and/or ability to become familiar with Uniform Grant Guidance as it relates to Audits of States, Local Governments, and Non-profit Organizations. Experience with Workday or other automated accounting systems a plus. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Detail oriented, accurate and efficient, with strong organizational skills. Self-starter, able to work autonomously, and problem-solve effectively. Strong communication skills and excellent customer service skills. Ability to work well with others and keep supervisors well informed.
