*Instruction And Classroom Support Technician 4 - Chemistry/Physics *

SALARY:$54,204 - $61,404

LOCATION:Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION:  The Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 4 (Scientific Instructional Designer) provides technical support services for faculty and students in the Chemistry and Physics programs. The position is responsible for maintaining safe lab procedures; ensuring proper lab set-up and breakdown; keeping the lab clean and safe; ordering lab supplies; reconciling the budget; hiring, training, and supervising student lab employees; and helping with design, course development, and testing equipment and/or procedures used for various demonstrations and laboratory activities in the above labs. The position is also responsible for operating and performing routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory and demonstration instruments and equipment; and instructing students, teaching assistants, and faculty in using the lab equipment. Lab duties will require exposure to organic and inorganic chemicals; and the use of typical and atypical laboratory equipment  Knowledge and implementation of current industry safety practices is an essential component of this position. 

 

This is a classified staff position that reports to the Dean of STEM.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, or a related area. 
  • At least one academic year of experience working in a lab environment (research assistant, lab technician, etc.). 
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment rich with diverse cultures.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and operating chemical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt and respond to last-minute changes, prioritize competing demands, and track and reconcile budgetary expenditures.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste disposal practices and green chemistry.
