DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College is seeking a *English Prep/I-BEST  *Tenure Track Faculty member. 

This position is enabled by the Our Colleges, Our Future Act of 2021 to guarantee equitable access and educational success for all, particularly for students from communities of color and low-income communities.  The college seeks faculty who demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, are able to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can employ student-centered approaches and instructional technology effectively, and who work collaboratively with students, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity, equity, inclusion, and student learning and success.

As an English PrepFaculty Member, you will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a department that transitions historically underserved, academically disadvantaged, and international students into college and career pathways. Our students include out-of-school youth ages 16- 21; adults returning to school after years of work at home or in industry; and immigrant, refugee, and international students improving their English language skills while pursuing a certificate or degree. Many of the students served by the English Prep Department are the furthest from educational justice. Therefore, our faculty must have experience fostering a climate of equity and belonging by exhibiting anti-racist and trauma-informed teaching practices. This position requires a faculty member who has the ability to successfully teach and advise students with basic reading and writing skills through college composition. This position is also responsible for developing and teaching multi-level English courses based on a college course in another discipline, such as in the I-BEST model. 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing an inclusive & equitable curriculum, preparing teaching materials, developing and assessing learning outcomes to evaluate student work, assigning grades, maintaining required records, academic advising, and consulting with students. Other responsibilities may include: department head duties; participating in achieving the college's mission and goals; upholding the college's values; college governance via department and division work; committee assignments; required professional development and college in-service activities (including employee orientation and college compliance training); and personal and program evaluation.
