The Student Success Specialists provide direct support to prospective and current students to successfully navigate the college admissions and onboarding process, addressing barriers to persisting and completing their education at LCC. Through coordinated care, the Specialists offer proactive interventions and troubleshooting, case management, and referrals to other departments and resources. Activities include creating a sense of belonging and ensuring students complete admissions requirements, applications, and navigate college systems. Because the Specialists encounter such a wide variety of student needs, they are very knowledgeable of general and complex college information and navigation and are an invaluable asset to our Student Services division.

The Student Success Specialists serve in the One-Stop Center, a centralized location within the Admissions Center Building that acts as an extension of several departments such as Financial Aid, Cashiering/Finance, Outreach, Testing, and Advising and Registration. The One-Stop Team is committed to creating an accessible, supportive environment and an educational experience that recognizes the diverse needs of our student population, proactively addressing barriers, and fostering a sense of belonging for all students, particularly those from historically marginalized communities. 

The Student Success Specialists must be self-starters with a high degree of motivation, energy, flexibility, and integrity. The Specialists are able to proactively problem-solve student issues, and easily build connections and positive first impressions with students. Additionally, they possess a thorough understanding of the diverse backgrounds and unique needs of community college students.

The Student Success Specialists are classified as Program Specialist 2s under the Washington State Class Specifications. The typical schedule is 8 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday, and may include flexibility for partial telework, as departmental needs permit. 

The Bilingual Student Success Specialist will receive a 5% assignment pay premium in addition to the posted salary range.
