SUMMARY The responsibilities of this job position include supervising the Process Engineering group to develop and implement potential projects to improve (safety, reliability, cost, and quality) plant assets in a cost-effective manner.Also included is the execution of process engineering projects in a reduced capacity. The Production Superintendent directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage seven subordinates including two shift supervisors who supervise a total of 22 employees in Operations. Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems Revise production schedules and priorities in collaboration with the Plant Manager as a result of equipment failure or operating problems Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products Ensure written work processes and instructions are developed, trained, reviewed, updated and fully followed. Promptly enlist resources to ensure production equipment is working correctly. Support plant outages and ensure sufficient staffing and planning are in place. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Minimum 7 years of industry and/or plant experience, preferably in a continuous chemical manufacturing process facility is required. Excellent computer skills are required; proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Budget development and oversight experience is desired. Excels at operating in an fast pace, community environment l Must be an excellent people manager; open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done. SAP experience preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS This job is performed mainly in control room or office setting; physical presence is required.
