Summary: JH Kelly has fully integrated electrical services and construction capabilities throughout the Northwest. Our team of over 200 Electricians works daily with owners, general contractors, and facility staff to deliver safe and reliable projects and services.
The Junior Detailer is responsible for creating detailed model content to support the coordination and production of drawings needed for the prefabrication and installation of work outlined in contract documents. Responsibilities vary by project, but core duties and qualifications are listed below. JH Kelly employs the following software tools: Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Salary Range: $20-$30 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret plan drawings, P&ID/PFD/One-Line documents, isometric drawings, specifications, and submittals.
Use software to create fabrication and installation drawings.
Produce fabrication drawings, such as piping/electrical spools, support fabrication details, spool maps, and detailed assembly drawings.
Create installation drawings for the field crews.
Generate supplemental drawings for accurate conveyance of scope, including details, sleeve and penetration drawings, equipment layouts, and point files for robotic layout.
Compile reports to support estimating, material procurement, QA, and productivity tracking (e.g., bills of material, takeoffs, cut lists, weld lists).
Perform site measurements, layout, and as-built modeling for field-routed piping or electrical systems.
Provide insights into constructability, value engineering, and conflict resolution during all project phases.
Review models in Trimble Connect to identify and resolve routing conflicts and constructability issues.
Adhere to project standards in model content, drawing output, and file management.
Collaborate effectively with the extended project team, engaging in problem-solving and productivity improvements.
Manage and meet project deadlines with accountability.
Support the RFI process to resolve discrepancies and fill information gaps.
Assist in work package creation and drawing control.
Prepare red-line as-built models and drawings for customer submission.
Relationships:
Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.
Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
A trade school or higher learning technical school degree is preferred.
Advanced level computer skills training.
Flexibility to work within various reporting structures and manage diverse deliverables.
Proven ability to meet project schedules and deadlines.
Preferred: Knowledge of Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Documents, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and/or Safety.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and with intermediate skills in Bluebeam.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-starter, motivated, and takes initiative.
Organized and productive with the ability to prioritize workload.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at hand.
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are necessary. The role also requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
