Below are rates for the 24-25 academic year:

  • Lecture rate is $78.33 per contact hour ($861.63 per credit).
  • Lab rate is $58.33 per contact hour ($1,283.26 per credit).
  • Field-based experience rate is $42.37 per contact hour ($1,398.21 per credit).

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Impart expertise, enthusiasm and creativity in teaching English language courses.
  • Lead with equity by creating an equitable learning environment that supports success for all students.
  • Teach English contextualized in subjects required for a high school diploma to immigrant and international students 
  • Offer outcomes-based instruction and utilize a curriculum that incorporates the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS).
  • Teach and interact effectively with staff and students of various cultural, ethnic, generational and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Identify and mitigate barriers to success that many students face
  • Apply current theories and research on teaching/learning styles, collaborative learning, assessment, and multicultural education
  • Provide effective classroom management, including navigating challenging conversations
  • Utilize technology to provide engaging and innovative language learning experiences
  • Promote innovative learning experiences with professional-technical programs, cross-disciplinary team teaching, and integration with other LCC programs 
  • Participate in ongoing instructional assessment, using current field-specific research findings, data, and educational techniques to develop/modify course content 
  • Work with students to develop personal, academic and career goals and provide instruction and assessment enabling the student to enter a college program, obtain or retain employment, earn a high school diploma, equivalency certificate, or complete other identified goals.
  • Provide individualized support to promote student success.
  • Proctor CASAS tests as needed; using diagnostic tools to foster academic advancement
  • Maintain availability outside of class time for student consultation.
  • Maintain and submit student records, documentation and program reports.
  • Participate in department and college activities, meetings and recruitment opportunities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned
