Robert Half Payroll Administrator in Lakewood, Washington


We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join our team located in Lakewood, Washington. In this role, you will be responsible for processing multi-state, multi-union, weekly payrolls, maintaining comprehensive records, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role involves significant data entry and requires a solid understanding of accounting and payroll principles. This permanent opportunity is fully on-site in Lakewood, WA.


• Process multi-state weekly payrolls for multiple unions using our in-house payroll system.

• Handle data entry and processing of time sheets related to various construction sites.

• Ensure a thorough understanding and application of state and federal payroll regulations.

• Onboard new employees and process system changes required for payroll computation, reporting, and analysis.

• Maintain complete and organized records to support each payroll cycle.

• Prepare payroll and benefits entries with a firm grasp of accrual-basis accounting, job costing, and labor allocations.

• Generate routine and ad-hoc payroll reports and conduct payroll reconciliations; develop new reports as needed.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

• Communicate with regulatory and taxing authorities to resolve any payroll-related issues.

• Support accounting operations, including month-end close entries.

• Maintain the integrity and security of confidential information with the utmost care and responsibility.

• Carry out certified payroll reporting in LCP Tracker, CDS, L& I, and other portals as required by the project.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Act as a backup and cross-train with the AP Specialist for AP and new-hire onboarding.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Benefits for this position include Medical/Dental/Vision Insurances (option for 100% coverage under union benefits for employee, spouse, and all dependents), participation in the Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) Plan, Profit sharing, 2 weeks of PTO, 1 week or sick time, and 8 paid holidays.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

• Knowledge of accounting functions is necessary.

• Experience in benefit functions is preferred.

• Experience in Certified Payroll is preferred.

• Familiarity with check processing is advantageous.

• Capability to handle full cycle payroll is expected.

• Certification in payroll is a plus.

• Experience in handling multi-state payroll is desired.

• Knowledge of payroll in a unionized environment is beneficial.

• Ability to manage weekly payroll is necessary.

• Understanding of job cost is required.

• Familiarity with labor allocation is advantageous.

• Experience in handling payroll for a range of 101-500 employees is preferred.
