Washington State DSHS BHA Social Work Manager in Lakewood, Washington

Description The Special Commitment Center (SCC) in Lakewood, Washington, and the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking an experienced, motivated, Social Work Manager (Band 2) with a passion for helping people. At the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), you will truly make a difference in the lives of others. The incumbent in this position will support the Chief of Clinical Services in the planning, administering, development, and oversight of the delivery of the Discharge Program at SCC. The incumbent will make recommendations for discharge-related patient care decisions, including discharge-related treatment planning, risk management, and discharge/transfer of patients with a less restrictive level of care as appropriate. You will be tasked with providing training, conducting performance evaluations/review meetings, and monitoring hospital-wide departmental quality management functions. Some of what you'll do: * Provide strategic leadership to psychiatric social workers and social work ancillary service providers. * Ensure maintenance of clinical standards of care for discharge-related treatment, social work, best practice, and state/federal regulatory standards; ensures policies/procedures are followed. * Hires social work staff; to train, coach, support, and mentor social work staff. * Act as a liaison between the patient, family/support systems, and community partners in coordinating the discharge planning process, responding to service/care needs, and providing general support. * Advocates on behalf of the patient and works closely with extended community partners such as Community Sex Offense Treatment Providers, Managed Care Organizations, Home and Community Services, Developmental Disabilities Administration, and the Department of Corrections. * Facilitates and/or coordinates discharge-related treatment groups * Audits and monitors work performance. * Attend facility case consults and participates in legal proceedings as appropriate. * Facilitates social work meetings for quality and process improvement. * Work closely with the financial department for financial eligibility as it pertains to each resident Required Education, Experience, and Competencies. * A Graduate Degree in Clinical Social Work or Counseling Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution OR appropriate training from a clinical social work program from a CSWE accredited program * Possession of an independent clinical social work license (LICSW) from the State of Washington. * Three (3) years of supervisory experience * Five (5) years of paid experience in counseling mentally or emotionally disturbed individuals * Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) or obtain membership within 3 months of hire * Experience in providing clinical leadership and direction to multi-disciplinary teams and or treatment programs in a residential setting * Communicates clearly and effectively in oral presentations and writing * Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and clinical observation skills * Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with a wide range of personalities Desired Qualifications: * Member of Sex Offender Civil Commitment Programs Network (SOCCPN) * Two (2) years of experience providing sex offender specific treatment or treatment in a correctional or forensic setting * Demonstrates a working knowledge of court decisions and federal laws related to the civil commitment of persons as sexually violent predators * Demonstrates a working knowledge of laws, rules, and policies applicable to SCC programs, including RCW 71.09 (the Community Protection Act of 1990) * Experience providing expert testimony in legal proceedings * Experience with negotiating/managing performance-based contracts with other agencies and professionals * Able to maintain high standards of professional integrity and to ensure such standards are maintained by supervisors. * Ability to maintain a working knowledge of SCC and DSHS policies, Federal and State laws, and standards related to SCC’s operations and NASW code of ethics To Apply--Simply fill out our application and attach your resume and cover letter.
