Job DescriptionThe Shipping Team Leader provides overall management and supervision of the Warehouse Shipping Team. They lead, mentor, and develop the Team to achieve and surpass all department goals. The Shipping Team Leader is responsible for Team Member hiring, development, and outplacement from team. They are also responsible for profitability, expense control, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned and have complete accountability for all aspects of department operations.

DUTIES:

Interview, select, train, develop, and counsel Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performing team and minimizes turnover.

  • Make hiring and termination decisions with guidance.

  • Select and develop Supervisors as potential Team Leaders

  • Achieve budgeted expense levels, including labor budgets

  • Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Facility Team Leader, Associate Facility Team Leaders, Team Leaders, and all Team Members

  • Confer with other Associate Facility Team Leaders and Team Leaders to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other activities such as Order Management, Purchasing, Accounting and Team Member Services.

  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which sustains an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale

  • Provide accurate and complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual and management reports

  • Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum one-year relevant experience in a Leadership or Supervisory role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general warehouse practices and terminology

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational skills, excellent math skills.

  • Ability to communicate and work well with others as part of a team.

  • Patient and enjoys working with and mentoring people.

  • Take a proactive approach to problem solving, take initiative and be responsible.

  • Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently, occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. (team lift suggested for weights in excess of 70 lbs.)

  • Work in a cold/wet storage facility environment (ranging from -10 (freezer) to 46 degrees Fahrenheit).

  • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
