The Environmental Assessment Program{rel="nofollow"}* (EAP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Senior Columbia River Basin Toxicologist (Toxicologist 3) position. This position can be located in any one of the below locations. Headquarters Office inLacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} *Central Region Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA{rel="nofollow"}. Eastern Region Office (ERO) in Spokane, WA{rel="nofollow"}. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology), with support from the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) and others, has created a six-year USEPA-funded, Toxics Reduction grant program under the Columbia River Basin Restoration Program. The focus of the grant program is to reduce toxics in the Columbia River Basin. Consistent with Ecology's Strategic Plan and existing programs designed to protect, preserve, and restore Washington's waters, Ecology is using funds to develop a comprehensive plan that identifies and prioritizes toxics reduction efforts across the basin. Development of this plan will include meaningful engagement with Tribal governments and will prioritize outreach to and activities within underserved communities.   Based out of EAP's Toxic Studies Unit (TSU), in this position, you will support sub-awardees and partners by providing strong technical support and understanding of ecotoxicology for the myriads of projects proposed across the basin. The technical support you will provide includes, but is not limited to, human health and fish consumption, juvenile fish/salmonid survival, fate and transport of toxics, and source identification of toxics. EAP's mission is to measure, assess, and communicate environmental conditions in Washington. We work to improve the environment for current and future generations through innovative and excellent science and thriving partnerships. The Toxics Studies Unit conducts long-term monitoring and source identification and environmental forensics studies for toxics across the state.   *Please Note: *This is a project position that is funded until September 30, 2029. *Tele-work options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint.
