The Human Resources Office *(HRO) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Protected Leave Specialist (Human Resource Consultant 3) *position. This position is located in our Headquarters Office *in Lacey, WA{rel="nofollow"}.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

As part of the Technical Unit, you will contribute to the mission of the agency and the HR office by independently managing the agency's protected leave program, to include: Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), WA State Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML), Shared Leave, Parental Leave, Pregnancy Disability Leave and other protected leaves. You will perform professional human resource consultation to staff and managers related to protected leave functions and provide professional support and assistance to the HR Business Partner staff assigned to their programs.

In this role, you will manage the workers compensation claim process for the agency and assist the agency Safety Manager in actively managing return to work, light / restricted duty, and stay at work reimbursements.

The range of professional duties includes: interpreting laws, rules and policies; explaining human resource policies, procedures and programs to employees, managers, the public, and others; providing assistance to support the professional responsibilities listed below; providing guidance to others in registering or applying to human resource programs; completing requests for personnel actions; providing training or orientation in the area of responsibility; creating resources for staff and managers in the area of responsibility; maintaining the HR SharePoint pages in the area of responsibility; maintaining confidential records and generating reports.
