The Water Resources{rel="nofollow"}* (WR) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Policy Support Planner (Environmental Planner 3) position.  This position is locatedin our *Headquarters Office inLacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. In this position, you will support the program's mission by guiding the development of several critical, complex, and controversial planning functions. You will assist in the development of policy issues, rules, and conduct research necessary to fulfill legislative requests on a variety of high-profile water resource issues. You will also support the program in conducting State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) analysis on large and complex water right decisions, new and amended rules, and for complex projects. In doing these functions, you will manage contractors and consultants hired to take on portions of the work required. Some of this work will involve collaborating and engaging with Tribes and other interested partners, including irrigators, utilities, local governments, and environmental groups. *Agency Mission: *Ecology's mission is to protect, preserve and enhance the environment for current and future generations.  *  Program Mission: *The mission of the Water Resources Program is to is to support sustainable water resources management to meet the present and future water needs of people and the natural environment, in partnership with Washington communities.   *Tele-work options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint.
