The Water Quality Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Nonpoint Education and Outreach Specialist (Community Outreach & Environmental Education Specialist 1) position. This position is locatedin our *Southwest Region Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

 

This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with diverse communities and play a pivotal role in environmental education and outreach. Working closely with the Watershed Resources Unit and Nonpoint Source Pollution Control team, you will support strategic communication plans to build public support for water quality initiatives. Additionally, you will develop a variety of outreach tools, such as mailers, workshops, and story maps, and community outreach activities aimed at promoting watershed awareness and best management practices. You will gain valuable experience and expertise in community engagement, public relations, and environmental communication, which will significantly advance your career in environmental advocacy and education.

*Program Mission: *The mission of the Water Quality Program is to ensure that all aquatic life and communities in the watershed experience cool, clean water to refresh and sustain us in a changing climate.  

Telework options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible for up to an 80% telework schedule with the expectation of working in the office one day per week. *
